TREE STORY

- Protect the plane trees

This participatory art project was born out of a desire to protect the plane trees in the village square from being felled. The aim was to showcase these trees and raise awareness of their presence and beauty. This participative project involved coloring the trees with pastels using two different artistic approaches: random and geometric. Random for one of the plane trees, following the contours of the bark, and geometric for the other, reproducing the shape of the paving stones on the trunk, like a vertical extension in a thousand colored reflections. A third was dressed in knitted patchwork, while a fourth was used as an exhibition stand.

The initiative was a resounding success, bearing witness to the effectiveness of such shared action. Twelve years later, the plane trees are still there and doing well.
